WHAT IS LED LIGHT THERAPY

  1. 1.WHAT IS LED LIGHT THERAPY

Led Light therapy is the application of specific wavelengths of light energy to tissue to obtain therapeutic benefits.

The energy delivered is then used to improve cellular performance.

Light therapy can be delivered through light emitting diode (LEDs) devices or cold lasers, and has a variety of applications across many medical fields.
  2. 2.HOW DOES IT WORK?

In the same way that plants use chlorophyll to convert sunlight into energy, high intensity light emitting diodes (LEDs) utilizing specific, proven wavelengths of light can trigger a natural biostimulatory effect in human tissue.

Research has shown that LED light therapy can increase circulation, accelerate tissue repair, kill acne bacteria, decrease inflammation, improve skin tone, texture and clarity, decrease under eye wrinkles as well as ease muscle and joint pain, stiffness, spasm, and pain associated with arthritis.

Research indicates that cells absorb particles of light (photons) and transform their energy into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the form of energy that cells utilize. The resulting elevation of ATP is then used to power metabolic processes; synthesize DNA, RNA, proteins, enzymes, and other products needed to repair or regenerate cell components; foster mitosis or cell proliferation; and restore homeostasis.

Simply put, the LED light source provides compromised cells with added energy so the cells performance is enhanced. For example, fibroblast cells will increase collagen and elastin production in connective tissue to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and increase the rate of wound healing.

WHAT IS LED LIGHT THERAPY

  1. 1.ANTI AGEING

Proven red and near-infrared wavelengths are utilized in the Celluma SERIES of LED light therapy devices to combat the signs of aging.

These specific wavelengths of light energy are clinically verified to enhance your body's natural ability to generate collagen and elastin by activating the fibroblast cells.
  2. 2.SIGNS OF ANTI AGEING

Fibroblast cells are responsible for producing collagen and elastin, the two most common proteins in connective tissue.
However, as we age, our fibroblasts become compromised resulting in lower levels of these proteins.

We might start noticing decreased elasticity in our skin, wrinkles, and our joints may not move as freely as they used to.

This is because lower levels of collagen lead to breakdowns in cartilage which can cause inflammation, soreness, stiffness, arthritis, and prolonged recovery time after physical activity.

Other common signs of aging can include Skin deterioration Melasma Arthritis Inflammation Chronic joint and muscle pain Keratosis
  3. 3.COLLAGEN

When it comes to aging, a significant factor that leads to wrinkles, fine lines, and joint pain is due to inadequate collagen levels.
Collagen is the main structural protein found in your skin and other connective tissue.

Collagen literally holds our bodies together. An easy way to remember what collagen does is to look at the Greek prefix ‘kolla’ which means glue. Increased fibroblast proliferation is just one benefit of LED red light therapy.

Fibroblasts make collagen fibers, so it stands to reason that the more, and healthier, fibroblasts we have in the skin, the more and better collagen fibers are made. And as we all know, collagen synthesis and maintenance is the bedrock of anti-aging.

Healthy collagen levels are what give us a glowing complexion, firm skin, strong nails, dense bones, and healthy hair.

It is also essential in keeping muscles, joints, and tendons in healthy working order.

Simply put, the more our bodies produce collagen, the better we’ll look and feel as we get older.

WHAT IS LED LIGHT THERAPY

  1. 1.TREATING ACNE

LED light therapy works by killing acne-causing bacteria at the source, deep beneath the skin’s surface.

As people across the nation are searching for more natural, chemical-free alternatives to traditional medical solutions, light therapy fits the bill perfectly.

Blue LED light therapy emits specific, clinically-proven wavelengths of light to trigger an all-natural effect in human tissue, killing acne-causing bacteria, decreasing inflammation, and improving skin tone, texture, and clarity from the inside out.

However, not all light therapy is created equal.
Blue and red LED light light-therapy is widely used as an effective option for the treatment of inflammatory acne.

One study concluded that “…blue light and red light may act synergistically in improving acne by combining antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action, rendering phototherapy with blue and/or red light an effective and safe treatment for acne vulgaris.
  2. 2.WHAT IS ACNE

Acne develops when an abundance of dead skin cells and a naturally-produced oil called sebum plug tiny hair follicles, or pores.

As sebum production continues to build under the plug in the skin’s surface, it becomes infected with acne bacteria, causing swelling, redness, and inflammation.

Acne presents itself in many ways - whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, and cysts are all common forms of acne, and each type can require a different approach for treatment.

Although acne is often considered a “teenage issue,” it can occur to any person at any age for a wide array of reasons.
  3. 3.ADULT ACNE

Although acne is typically thought to only affect teenagers and people in their early 20s, acne is actually very common in adults, as well.

Some people experience acne into their 30s, 40s, and 50s, and even if they never suffered from acne as a teenager, “adult-onset acne” is a thing, typically caused by pregnancy, menopause, and other hormonal imbalances.

What’s worse, women are affected by adult-onset acne much more than men.
    So unfair, right!

There is not one clear answer as to what causes acne in adults, but it’s believed that a variety of factors such as hormones, genetics, diet, stress, makeup, poor skin care, and other underlying medical issues can cause adult acne, just to name just a few

WHAT IS LED LIGHT THERAPY

  1. 1.WOUND HEALING

Light therapy has been shown to accelerate tissue repair, decrease wound size and accelerate wound closure as well as other beneficial effects.

These mechanisms have been demonstrated to promote dermal wound healing as well as reduce the pain associated with the healing process.

Our treatment is intended to be used for dermal wound healing referring to the treatment of surface wounds existing at the outer 2mm of the skin and including normal, acute post-surgical and chronic wound healing including but not limited to diabetic ulcers
  2. 2.RECOVERY OF WOUNDS

Low level-light therapy has been shown decrease a patient’s recovery time while reducing discomfort levels and enhancing overall outcomes.

It is ideally suited following any ablative procedure as well as pre and post-surgery :

.Low level-light therapy has been shown decrease a patient’s recovery time while reducing discomfort levels and enhancing overall outcomes. It is ideally suited following any ablative procedure as well as pre and post-surgery for the following reasons:.

Phototherapy has been shown to accelerate tissue repair, decrease wound size, accelerate the resolution of erythema, accelerate wound closure and prevent dehiscence.

Phototherapy prior to surgery may reduce the incidence of hypertrophic scars and keloids.

Ongoing post-surgery photo-rejunvenation² (activation of fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin, stimulation of keratinocytes which produce keratin to provide structural strength to the skin).

    Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation prevention.

Activation of mast, macrophage and neutrophil cells can decrease inflammation and protect against infection.

    Phototherapy is anti-bacterial.
The presence of P-acne bacteria can lead to post-operative infections, particularly in shoulder surgery.                                                              Using the professional grade LED light therapy prior to surgery can decrease the presence of this bacteria

WHAT IS LED LIGHT THERAPY

  1. 1.PAIN RELEIF

In the same way that plants grow by getting their energy from the sun during photosynthesis, Infrared light therapy -- or “low-level light” therapy -- uses specific, proven wavelengths to stimulate a natural response in human tissue that can increase circulation, accelerate tissue repair, ease muscle pain, relieve joint stiffness, and enhance overall cell performance on a microscopic level.

Infrared light therapy works by boosting cellular energy to encourage and enhance the body’s natural healing abilities.
When tissue is damaged, pain occurs.

Human tissue can be compromised in a variety of ways; a sprained ankle, a surgical procedure that didn’t heal properly, or even an overly intense gym session can all cause bodily discomfort and emotional distress.

Pain can be short-term or long-term, and because it presents itself differently in every person, it can be extremely difficult to treat
  2. 2.PAIN MANAGEMENT

Poor circulation and the lack of oxygen and other essential molecules (i.e., glucose, Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP)) in blood vessels can cause pain or a lack of sensation.

Light energy stimulates the release of nitric oxide, causing blood vessels to increase in diameter (vasodilation) and allowing more blood flow, oxygen, and other important factors to be delivered.

This increase in oxygen and nutrients, along with stimulation of the light energy emitted from Celluma LED devices increases ATP production, which activates pain relieving pathways.

This decreases pain and inflammation, and increases tissue regeneration in the localized area. When it comes to effective treatment of pain conditions with LED light therapy, wavelength is key.

Compared to blue light therapy, near-infrared wavelengths can penetrate deep into the muscle and joint tissue to alleviate pain, increase circulation and decrease inflammation. Infrared light therapy provides compromised cells with extra energy to accelerate the natural repair of compromised tissue cells, foster cell production, and restore homeostasis within the body.
  3. 3.PRE - POST SURGERY

Low level-light therapy has been shown decrease a patient’s recovery time while reducing discomfort levels and enhancing overall outcomes. It is ideally suited following any ablative procedure as well as pre and post-surgery for the following reasons.
